Finding the Best Green Blogs   

There are millions of blogs on the Internet. Some are dedicated to personal opinions or public rants, while others aim to serve a dedicated service. Among the most service-oriented are the 'green' blogs that have sustainability or environmental friendliness as their ultimate goal. The best thing about them is that these blogs cover a diverse range of subject matter including everything from 'green' babies to gardening, recycling, building and everything in between.

Currently among the top 20 ranking green blogs you will find:

1. TreeHugger - TreeHugger is the mother of all environmental blogs, ranking #17 on Technorati's top blogs list (which makes it at least one of the most referenced enviroblogs). It covers general environmental news, events and products.
2. EcoGeek - Geek chic environmental is a good way to describe EcoGeek, which writes about gadgets that are earth friendly.
3. Environmental Law Prof Blog - From the always-good Law Professor Blog Network, this one deals with pressing concerns surrounding the issue of environmental law.
4. New Scientist Environment Blog - Excellent environmental commentary and analysis from New Scientist magazine.
5. AutoblogGreen - A spin-off from Weblogs Inc.'s popular Autoblog, the green version deals with cars and the environment -- think hybrids, gas consumption, alternative fuels, etc.
6. Eco-worrier - Musings on the environment from a columnist at the Times of London.
7. Grist Mill - Daily environmental news delivered in blog form from Grist magazine (which is also about the environment).

18. No Impact Man - The chronicle of a man living in New York City as he attempts to go completely zero impact (i.e., ride a bicycle everywhere, recycle everything, eat locally produced food, and so on).
19. Great Green Baby - Another site for the green parent, Great Green Baby reviews eco-friendly baby products.
20. EcoFriend - EcoFriend is a blog about all those sexy, environmentally aware products you want but can't afford.

What can you learn from a green blog? While a fair share of the blogs out there will have a load of personal opinions filling their lines, they will also provide incredible resources. For instance, many parents who have children with health issues directly tied to the environment publish blogs about their discoveries and any products or information that will be of benefit to others in the same predicament. This includes things like asthma or food allergies due to the use of pesticides.

Of course there are some green blogs that have been around for a very long time and are so popular that they almost qualify as websites rather than blogs. Some of these are strictly environmental in that they cover environmental laws and current legislation. Some are news feed-like in their design, but provide a comprehensive resource to all that is happening in the world of the green blogs.

Generally, anything that labels itself a green blog will have a mission developed around a desire to educate the general population about how to make sustainable and smarter choices for their families, themselves and the environment. all that is happening in the world of the green blogs.
